Open Minds. Open Doors.

Discover What’s Possible

Our loyal readers are well familiar with our school so perhaps we can consider this post as an invitation to extend an invitation! If you have friends, family and colleagues who share your commitment to a high-quality education, we hope you’ll share this.

At Walden International School, we believe education should spark curiosity, nurture character, and prepare students to thrive. Our Open House (Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) is your chance to experience this vision in action. Step into welcoming classrooms, meet passionate educators, and see how our learning environment helps students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Central to our mission is Making Good People—students who think deeply, act with integrity, and contribute positively to their communities.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by staff and student ambassadors, who are eager to share what makes Walden special. Meet teachers and school leaders to learn about our thoughtful approach to teaching and learning, and discover how we encourage critical and creative thinking. You’ll get a sense of our community values, student well-being initiatives, and the culture of belonging we nurture every day.

Walden is Halton Region’s only JK–8 IB school offering both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). This continuum supports inquiry-driven, globally minded learning across elementary and middle years, fostering consistency, depth, and international-mindedness throughout a student’s journey.

We believe students learn best when they’re engaged, encouraged, and empowered. Learning at Walden is active, collaborative, and connected to real-world contexts. Our educators design experiences that build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and scientific thinking, while encouraging inquiry, problem-solving, and effective communication. Technology is integrated thoughtfully to enhance learning, not replace it, and we strive to cultivate global awareness, empathy, and character. We celebrate student voice, agency, and creativity, inviting every student to contribute meaningfully.

Families are essential to the Walden experience. Our Open House emphasizes partnering with parents, creating meaningful traditions, and fostering a warm, inclusive community. You’ll hear about school events, service initiatives, and the ways students lead and contribute beyond the classroom. It’s a place where friendships form, talents flourish, and character is built every day. At Walden, Making Good People is more than a motto—it’s a daily practice.

To get the most out of your Open House, arrive with questions about curriculum, support, and school culture. You’ll have opportunities to learn about assessment, feedback, and how learning is differentiated, and you can explore co-curriculars and how students balance academics and activities. Speaking with current families or student ambassadors about their experiences can be especially helpful as you consider fit for your child.
