Where Do We Go From Here? Some Thoughts On How We Help Each Other

We were chatting with some friends on the weekend. Online, not in person. That’s what we do for now. We were talking about our kids and how they were managing the Covid-19 state of emergency.

He said, “It’s especially difficult for them because they have never experienced anything like this.”

My rejoinder was pretty quick. “We’ve never experienced anything like this!”

Pandemics such as COVID-19 have struck our human community on a global scale approximately every century - bubonic plague 1620,  plague 1720, cholera epidemic 1820 and Spanish flu 1920.

So when we’re finding ourselves struggling a bit to cope let’s give ourselves a little room for self compassion - this is all new. There’s no road map. Perhaps the best we can do right now is just agree to help each other out.

That’s why I thought it might be a good idea to share some ideas we have arising from our commitment to Make Good People. If there was a time in the last century when we needed more good people I can’t think of when that might have been.

I am increasing the frequency of my posting to the blog from monthly to weekly. It’s my hope that you will find some ideas, coping mechanisms and observations that will make your way a little easier. I hope I’m right.
