Delivering on promises with joy

Change for good

This time of year brings fresh opportunities and new beginnings, and we can’t wait to share some wonderful updates with you, especially about our growing team.

In our previous July and August posts, we discussed two important ideas: the need to teach our children how to seek the truth and the value of encouraging thoughtful conversations instead of quick judgments. These goals are essential, and they challenge us to create a supportive environment where learning thrives.

We believe in a well-rounded education that includes academics, fun activities, and time spent in nature. To achieve this, we've welcomed 11 new teachers and staff to Walden; each with varied backgrounds, brings unique experiences and a genuine passion for helping students grow. Their diverse experiences enrich our program, ensuring that every child finds joy in learning. Together, they will guide our students toward becoming curious, confident, and knowledgeable individuals who understand and respect the diverse world around them.

And, it’s the matter of joy that stands out. There are many issues impacting today’s world that appear especially fashioned to remove joy. With the continuing conscious evolution of our school we are very careful in our selection of team members. This group happens to be incredibly special and the celebration that we feel in the school every day is palpable. I really encourage you to visit and see for yourself.

I don’t often get to invoke Albert Einstein. His observation, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge,” is the most succinct expression of what we experience and deliver to our Walden students.

As we embark on this new school year, let’s work together to inspire our children and make learning an exciting, joyful adventure!
